It is that time of the year when the whole nation feels a patriotic vibe. 26th January 2020 will be 71st Year of Republic Day in India, and what better than witnessing the celebrations from the capital of India? Visit Rajpath in New Delhi for a Republic Day celebration and get the picture of how the nation comes together to showcase the unity, culture, and the grandness of our country. The flag will be hoisted by our President, Ram Nath Kovind at 9:00 am followed by the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath in Delhi at 9:30 am. The entire event will go on for three hours.
The parade takes place on a five-kilometer long stretch along Rajpath, in Delhi. Talking about the route followed by the parade is from Raisina Hill near Rashtrapati Bhavan and follows Rajpath past India Gate and to the Red Fort. People come to visit this spectacular parade from all over Delhi.
The parade starts with the arrival of the president of India, escorted by horses. After this, the Prime Minister pays homage to the ones who lost their lives in war at Amar Jawan Jyoti by placing a wreath. This is followed by flag hoisting by the president and 21 gun salute. This ceremony will surely leave you with goosebumps.
The Parade will be led by the three divisions of the Indian armed forces, the Army, Navy, and Air Force. This is one day when the entire nation is glued to the TV to watch the ceremonies. In addition to the Parade, performances by India's Border Security Force "Daredevils" motorcycle stunt team, Sikh Light Infantry, the Grenadiers, and the Parachute Regiment will be showcased and you should definitely not miss the show.
Apart from this, Captain Tania Shergill, a fourth-generation Army officer, will be the first female parade adjutant this year. We are feeling very proud. Are you too?
There will be 22 grand floats (jhakiya) that will highlight every state's culture such as heritage, projects, and future vision.
The participants in the float are from Assam, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. These states come with huge preparations.
Apart from the states, each department will also put up mesmerizing floats. The Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Department of Financial Services, the National Disaster Response Force, the Central Public Works Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and the Ministry of Shipping.
