Majnu ka Tilla in Delhi is a Little Tibet of India, and we terribly miss going their right now. This place has all things Tibetan from restaurants, to market.
The beautiful Tibetan colony was built in Delhi around the year 1950. Here's a rundown of things one can do at Majnu Ka Tilla and the reasons we miss going there.
1. The Cultural Exchange
Just walk around the Majnu Ka Tilla with a backpack looking closely at the Tibetan way of life. The idea of this culture exchange makes us filled with joy. Not everyone has the opportunity to learn about a whole new culture right in their city. Delhites must be proud of it.
2. The Shopping at Tibetan Market
The market has it all at a very reasonable price. You can buy t-shirts, beanies, flipflops and a lot of cool stuff that you barely get anywhere else in the city. It is not only about the clothes but also the showrooms selling some really unique stuff from Thailand that all the shoppers adore.
3. The Monastery
Just visiting a monastery will heal you in so many ways. Trust us, it feels so positive to listen to the monks chant their prayers, which we don't understand, but it surely sends us positive vibes too. And watching children jumping full of joy outside the monasteries is a feeling inexplicable. Last and most important part of the visit, don't forget to make a wish at the prayer wheel.
4. The Tibetian People
It is the people of Majnu Ka Tilla that make it what it is today. The vibes that people create will always draw your attention from any other part of the city. If you just want to roam around in a peaceful environment, visit this place and forget all your worries for a while. Will you?
5. The Tibetan and Korean Food
Chinese food can be found easily in any part of the city. Though, you cannot find the authentic Tibetan and Korean food anywhere but here at Majnu Ka Tilla. Be it the 'laphing' or the soft, stuffed momos by all-time famous Dolma Aunty. Korean food is so expensive everywhere else in Delhi, but not here. You can always visit the New Ganganam Korean Restaurant for some cheap and delicious Korean delicacies.
6. AMA Cafe
AMA Cafe is a magnet. No trip to Majnu Ka Tilla can be complete without visiting this beautiful cafe. If you have to wait to get your seat, believe us, it is worth the wait. Do try their fluffy pancakes, gooey mud cake, or just a cuppa of warm Cappucino.
7. The Picturesque Locations
For all those who love creating content in terms of photos and videos, do visit Majnu Ka Tilla to give your Tales of Delhi a different twist. This place in North Delhi is beyond the usual. Capture in your frame the goldens of the monastery, the soothing sound of prayer wheels, or maybe the innocent smile of the monks. You will surely fall in love with the little Tibet.
All the above reasons make our hearts ache because we miss going to Majnu ka Tilla Delhi. Have we got you a weekend plan post the pandemic? Go soak yourself in the glory.
