Solving a Rubik's cube in itself is a challenge for most, and the technique takes a lot of practice to figure out. And people who do get obsessed with this puzzle cubes move on to more complex patterns and shapes of boxes. Did you know there's a 17*17 Rubik's cube? Yeah, it's the biggest in the world. But Illayaram Sekar from Chennai has achieved a different feat. He broke the Guinness World Records of Most Rubik's Cubes Solved Underwater.
Earlier, the record was of solving 5 Rubik's cube, which was broken by Illayaram by solving six. The 25yo took two minutes and 17 seconds to solve the cube puzzles while staying underwater.
The record-breaking attempt was played out in a transparent airtight container through which Illayaram can be seen solving the cubes. The credit for his ability to stay underwater for that long goes to a special form of yoga meditation called Pranayama. Illayaram has been practising for this attempt for the past two years and finally succeeded.
As for his passion for Rubik's cube, he has been solving those since 2013, and now, he works as a Rubik’s cube trainer at different schools across Chennai.
After this feat, he is aiming to break the Pyramix cube records and the one-handed underwater record as well. But he felt that the most Rubik's Cubes that were solved underwater were exceptionally difficult and hence he attempted it first.
We hope he is successful in his future world record attempts and keeps inspiring many more youngsters to go for greater challenges.
