It's good news for all book lovers, PustakWale, a mobile bookstore, visits societies in Pune on weekends to spread the joy of book reading.
During the time of the pandemic, a lot of us missed going out to book shops, browse through the shelves, sniff on books(we have literally) and buy piles of them, only to return happy and content. And even though after unlock, some of us deliberately staying home to avoid catching the virus. So what if you can't step out, these good people from PustakWale are on a journey to bring books to you.
How did it all start?
The brainchild of Rutica and Ashay Walambe, Pustakwale carries a single but strong ambition at its core; to spread the joy of reading by making good books available to all age groups. Amidst the current uncertainty of daily events, they aspire to bring a sense of positivity and cheer to housing societies. They know that when it comes to books, age, gender, status, nothing but only reading matters!
Pustakwale brings handpicked curated books to indulge book lovers all across housing societies in Pune. They aim to spread the joy of reading and enhance the book-shopping experience for people of all ages. They make absolutely sure to follow all safety norms. The customers only have to coordinate with society members and book a weekend slot with us.
How is it going?
The Pustakwale initiative is now 2 months old, and they have already visited about 20 societies over the last 10 weekends, and spread the joy of reading to 600+ families, and sold more than 2500+ books across Marathi, English, Hindi languages.
They believe when you are doing something good, and people appreciate it, then nothing feels challenging. But since1 they carry a few selective, and curated books along with them, sometimes it becomes a challenge to live up to the expectations of people.
We have made a resolution to set up a bookstore on every weekend till 31st Dec 2020.
