This Kashmir police officer has set up the 'Wall of Kindness' during this pandemic, helping out several people. The pandemic has adversely affected the lifestyles of many, more so, making it difficult for the needy and the underprivileged ones. However, little gestures always count and make a difference. The Kashmir Police built the 'Wall of Kindness' solely to help the needy and pull through the pandemic.
DSP traffic police of Srinagar, Sheikh Aadil, built the 'Wall of Kindness' outside the office of the traffic police department. It was created on November 13, the occasion of World Kindness Day.
The concept of 'Wall of Kindness' dates back to 2016, started by the people of Iran, and later implemented in many other countries. The Kashmir locals donate food items, winter clothes, and even sanitary pads here. The officer personally supervises the arrangements as the wall is built right across the station. The wall beside is adorned with a painting with a message that reads, “If you don’t need it, leave it. If you need it, take it".
Officer Sheikh Aadil mentions to the media houses about the kind gestures made by the people at this Wall. For severe winters, they have arranged earthen pots around the wall to keep up with the temperature. Donors have also installed coffee and tea vending machines near the wall. During the harsh winters, people visiting the wall can treat themselves to a hot beverage.
DSP Aadil states to media houses “It hardly matters whether the initiative has been taken by a police officer or a civilian. What matters is that we need to be compassionate towards people who have been economically hit by two lockdowns since last year. We need to be compassionate towards each other and help each other in trying times like the Covid-19 pandemic. And we should come up with such initiatives regularly.” The covid warrior, officer Aadil has taken up a heartwarming initiative for the greater cause to make the world a better place.
