This is how the newly married couple from Karnataka cleaned up a beach
Anudeep Hegde and Minusha Kancha from Baindur, Karnataka, had got married on November 18. The couple often used to visit the Someshwara beach to spend time together. However, they realized that the beach was full of litter waste, slippers, and alcohol waste. Instead of staying ignorant to it, they decided to clean it. They brought their gloves and bin bags and started cleaning the beach from November 27.
The duo cleaned the beach till December 5, where they managed to dispose of over 600 kilos of waste from the seashore.
Initially, they did not receive the support of people. Though, after some time, more than fifteen people came to volunteer, after which the beach is 80% clean now. The couple expects that within a week, they will also be able to remove the waste leftovers. The local panchayat workers are taking away the garbage collected by the couple.
Even after cleaning the beach, the couple aims to spread awareness about marine conservation and cleanliness. The duo also believes that the condition of beaches can be better with community participation.
