The state government had sent money through the "Bihar Sahayata Mobile App", which made them the winner of Digital India Award 2020.
The Bihar government has won the Digital India Award 2020 for providing financial assistance to the accounts of 21 lakh stranded workers, who were the most affected ones by the pandemic.
The state government has been the winner for its "innovative steps in e-governance". The government had provided financial aid to the stranded workers stuck outside Bihar through the "Bihar Sahayata Mobile App".
After the news broke down, the youngsters of Bihar are happy and expecting more from the government for the workers. "Government must ensure minimum financial support to the workers who do not have the access to mobile phones or the app and are going through a bad time in this pandemic," Kshitiz Suman, a resident of Patna said.
Three departments together won the Digital India Award 2020
The state along with several departments, has been declared the winner for the "pandemic category" of the Digital India Awards. The departments include Chief Minister Secretariat, the Disaster Management Department, and the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
The Digital India Awards 2020 is instituted under the National Portal of India. It recognizes innovative digital solutions by all government entities.
President Ram Nath Kovind will give the awards to the winners on December 30 in New Delhi.
