Launched on 12 January by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, this paint will be available in two forms, distemper, and plastic emulsion.
It is indeed an innovative start to 2021, as India now has its own cow dung paint. ‘Khadi Prakritik Paint' is the country's first eco-friendly and non-toxic paint, and its main ingredient is cow dung. Certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, this unique paint has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties, and it is odorless.
The sale of this paint would be a big help for farmers and can generate additional revenue for them. The farmers will get an extra income of Rs.30,000 per animal per year. It is priced at Rs.120 per litre for the distemper and Rs.225 per litre for the emulsion.

The paint dries in less than four hours and has a smooth and uniform finish. It can be applied to the interior as well as exterior walls. Both distemper and emulsion paints are available in the white base color and can be developed in any color by suitably mixing colorants.
Though this paint is one of its kind, cow waste has been used earlier too. In 2015, an Allahabad-based ‘gaushala’ had introduced ‘Gauashish Phenyl', made with cow urine and neem. One can find Incense sticks made of cow dung in the local market too. In 2019, Khadi also introduced cow dung soaps.
But this paint is indeed unique, and we are happy that the farmers will be benefitted from its sale. So, let's help our hardworking farmers by purchasing Khadi Prakritik Paint.
