Vishindas Wadhwa who founded one of Mumbai's largest samosa hub 'Guru Kripa' for decades, was 76 when he passed away.
Guru Kripa is known for its crispy samosas, and delicious chole Tikki, and if you are a Mumbaikar you must have been a fan too. It's disheartening to know that the man behind this iconic eatery passed away on Thursday in Sion.
He was suffering from a minor heart ailment, but he passed away, said his grandson Bharat Wadhwa.
Vishindas Wadhwa shifted to Mumbai empty-handed after the partition had happened. He had to leave his ancestral home Karachi, and his family had to re-started everything from scratch.
''My grandfather will continue to be an inspiration for us, his family came to India empty-handed, as refugees after partition. He set up Guru Kripa as a small stall which then grew in stature, and fame'', said Bharat.
Guru Kripa, a Sindhi establishment has completed successful 46 years in Mumbai, and all the credit goes to Vishnidas Wadhwa and his immense hard work. This iconic eatery is Mumbai's favorite go-to spot for fresh samosas and has been savoured by celebrities like Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Amitabh Bacchan.
The eatery now will be run by his son Govind and is likely to reopen on Saturday.
We extend our deepest condolences to Vishindas Wadhwa's family.
