Passengers! Just pay Rs. 50 and get luggage sanitized and wrapped at Mumbai Central. You can also choose to pay just Rs. 10 for sanitization.
There is no doubt that the Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we used to travel. People are continuously trying to adapt to the new normal with sanitizing and maintaining physical distancing. Now, Western Railway of Mumbai has started a facility through which passengers can get luggage sanitized and wrapped at Mumbai Central.
Mumbai Central station sees a large number of passengers who come here to travel to other cities. Hence, to ensure safety, the divisional railway manager of Western Railway has inaugurated the services.
The sanitization of the luggage will be done through UV rays tunnel in which the luggage will be passed. Since UV rays' sanitization kills the pathogen residing on the surface of the luggage, the process is being assumed to be better than the old spraying method.
In addition, the luggage will be wrapped with a polythene cover. However, WR is planning to replace polythene with a biodegradable polymer.
Get luggage sanitized and wrapped at Mumbai Central in just Rs 50!
The rates of the services will be as minimum as Rs 10 for sanitization per baggage. However, passengers will have to pay Rs 50 for both sanitization and wrapping.
The project will get Rs 18.2 lakh per annum as revenue to the Mumbai Central division. Similar services will be started at Bandra Terminus Surat Railway Station soon.
