The step to impose lockdown in Thane has been taken to curb the increasing number of Coronavirus cases from the past few weeks.
With the COVID cases continuously increasing over the past few weeks, a lockdown in Thane has been declared by the civic administration of Thane city.
According to the order by Thane Municipal Commissioner, 16 hotspots will go under lockdown from March 13 to March 31.
The lockdown will follow the restrictions that were already in place during the nationwide lockdown.
Lockdown in Thane areas
The area to go under lockdown from March 13 are:
1. Aainagar, Kalwa
2. Suryanagar, Vitawa
3. Kharegaon Health Centre
4. Chendani Koliwada
5. Srinagar
6. Hiranandani Estate
7. Lodha, Majiwada
8. Runwal Garden city, Balkum
9. Lodha Amara
10. Shivai Nagar
11. Dosti Vihar
12. Hiranandani Meadows
13. Patil Wadi
14. Runwal Plaza, Kores Nakshatra, Kores Tower
15. Runwal Nagar, Kolbad
16. Rustomjee, Vrindavan
The total number of Coronavirus cases in Thane were 2,69,845 as of March 8 with 6,302 deaths.
However, Maharashtra had reported 8,744 new infections on the same date taking the total number of cases to 22,28,471 with 52,500 deaths so far.
There are no reports of lockdown in Mumbai as of now.
