The dream city is again going to experience Victoria-style carriages in South Bombay starting next week. Check out the services, price, and timings below.
Those days are coming again when you can talk to the air while sitting in the tonga and glaring at the beauty of Mumbai. The residents of the city are soon going to experience Victoria-style carriages in South Bombay.
These carriages, however, will not be accompanied by horses but will be electric which will take people on the heritage tours. As of now, 12 carriages are ready to offer services from the next week.
After it's launch, people can take a tour to Gateway of India, Nariman Point, Flora Fountain, Kala Ghoda and Girgaum Chowpatty.
During weekends, the tongas will take people on the heritage tour where one can opt for a shorter route costing Rs. 500. The longer route, though, will cost Rs 750 for a six-seater tonga.
The shorter route covers a ride starting from the end of Marine Drive to Mantralaya and going back via the Air India building. On the other hand, the longer route will cover Nariman Point, Flora Fountain, Kala Ghoda, and drop at the Gateway of India.
The tonga is capable of 70 to 80 km run after it gets fully charged for around 6 to 7 hours. It is also equipped with an in-built speaker that will provide details of the heritage structure in six languages during heritage tours. However, on regular tours, one can play music on these speakers through the Bluetooth system.
Operated by Ubo Ridez company, the tonga services will be available between 4 PM to 2 AM where one can also book for Rs. 83-Rs. 125 per person depending on the distance.
More such carriages will start in the city by December taking the total tongas to be 40 to 45 in the city. The plans are also being made to run the tongas at Five Gardens, Bandra Bandstand, Juhu, and Navi Mumbai.
