Dhruv Mantri who hails from Rajasthan has successfully raised Rs.685,028 in less than two weeks. He is donating oxygen concentrators and oximeters for COVID-19 patients in his hometown Kuchaman City.
In the month of April, when Dhruv and his family were tested positive, it made him realized that the situation is getting worse. After a while when they all got recovered he saw his father struggling to find COVID essentials for other patients. Later, when he found out that 25 people, who were infected with COVID-19 had died due to the lack of oxygen, it left him in a shock. And, that's when he decided to raise funds!
"This prompted me to do something for the community and I decided to start a fundraiser. My father informed me about the situation in our hometown where my grandparents stay. He said that the cases were raising every day and the support was minimal. The only option for any patient for oxygen was to get admitted to the hospital since there were no enough oxygen concentrators available. I then started raising funds for my hometown - Kuchaman City, Rajasthan. ", he said.
With the help of his friends, family, and many anonymous donors, Dhruv was able to raise more than Rs. 6.5 Lakhs within 2 weeks. His fundraiser is supported by Lions Clubs International, Kuchaman City. According to the latest update, Rs.1,23,000 has been withdrawn and given to the vendor, Clean Current Pvt. Ltd. 9 Oxygen Concentrators have been purchased for patients as of now. The Lions Club will be distributing them. The rest of the funds have been given to different NGOs for tiffins and other COVID-19 essentials.
Dhruv Mantri is a grade X student of The Shri Ram School, Moulsari in Gurugram. He first wanted to keep the fundraiser at Rs.2 Lakhs, but then after his father insisted he keeps it at Rs.5 lakhs. Dhruv Mantri is a perfect example of the saying " Age is just a number". Local Samosa appreciates his efforts!
