After launching 3 such centres in Karnataka, SWAG ERT with Sonu Sood Foundation has opened its 4th rapid oxygen centre at Mangaluru Central railway station on 3rd June.
Seeing the shortage of oxygen beds and oxygen cylinders in Bangalore, a bike rental company named 'SWAG Bikes' started distributing free oxygen to COVID-19 patients through its SWAG ERT (Emergency Response Team). This initiative was started 3 weeks back to keep Bangalore Breathing, and now it has reached new heights.
Taking their initiative to a bigger level, the team has now opened an oxygen centre in Mangaluru. It will be catering to the needs of patients within an 80 km radius from the centre for free. But, this not the first time! SWAG ERT and Sonu Sood foundation have already set up other centres that are functional in Bengaluru, Bellary, and Hubli too. There are also working on launching similar centres in Mysore, Hassan, and Davanagere in the near future.
Before setting up these rapid oxygen centres, SWAG ERT was distributing cylinders door to door between 12 am to 6 am. We work at night because it is the most Critical SPO2 low time. This means if your oxygen goes down at night, you won't even get transportation and even beds. We carry cylinders that weigh more than 6 Kgs, which can save one's life for just a night. That is why we had started this service. Bangalore Police and SWAG ERT are doing this project together.", says RJ Amit, founder of SWAG Bikes on his Instagram.
During a crisis when the corporate world of bike rentals was not operational, SWAG Bikes came as a saviour. It was ensuring that all its resources are utilized for the life-saving gas supply through its large fleet of bikes and trucks. With these functioning oxygen centres, more lives can be saved. One can reach out to them on 7069999961 on WhatsApp. Their team is also offering rent-free bikes to frontline workers for up to three months.
