Shaheen Jamadar would note down all the important details from Dharavi residents on phone, and then her husband and son would provide the supply to these needy people.
Last year when Shaheen Jamadar had joined a crowdfunded group 'Enrich Foundation', she managed to provide 8,000 ration kits, clothes, snacks, and sanitary pads to the needy. She even coached around 300 students in English and Maths with another initiative. This year too Shaheen was working tirelessly for COVID-19 relief in her locality, but then was tested COVID-19 positive. Despite being admitted to the hospital, she did not stop helping people!
This 38-year-old COVID-19 warrior kept attending to the calls from the needy even after she was admitted to the hospital and getting her aid for the Coronavirus. She would save their requirements and other important details like the Aadhaar card in a google form. After which she would give these details to her husband and 15-year-old son who would then arrange the required items for the needy. In total, 170 families had contacted Shaheen, and with the help of the said NGO and her family members, the help reached them right before Eid.
Shaheen feels that being a lead volunteer from the NGO for Dharavi, it is her responsibility to identify needy families. This is the reason why she did not stop even after testing positive and admitting to the hospital. In 2020 when she had helped people during Ramadan, they reached out to her again. Shaheen could not refuse them and gave her best. We salute this COVID-19 warrior and wish her health and more power! Also, if you wish to help her reach more such people, donate here.
