3 brothers and their friend are providing free ration kits and food to the needy in night shelters wearing Guy Fawkes masks in Bhopal, and they have been cooking meals for around 100 people every day.
The second wave of COVID-19 bought a crisis in the country. At the same time, it also made us realize how powerful humanity can be! The way ordinary citizens have been helping each other and the way CovidWarriors became saviors to many, shows how people have left no stones unturned from their side. Among such COVID-19 heroes, there is a group of 4 volunteers who have been providing food to the needy wearing Guy Fawkes masks in Bhopal, and it is worth all the talk.
Siblings Zeeshan Mujeeb, Abdul Mubeen, Abdul Rehman, and their friend Surendra Kurmi are distributing food and ration kits to night shelters since April after the lockdown was imposed. All 4 of them work in the manufacturing industry and have been cooking meals on their terrace. They visit night shelters outside hospitals in the Ratibada area of Bhopal and have helped around 70 families as of now.
But, what makes their work even more impactful is their V For Vendetta-inspired face masks. This squad wears these sharp pencil-thin goatees and wide smile masks from a popular movie to hide their identity. Though people now have become familiar with them, initially, it wasn't the case. On their first trip to a night shelter, the Guy Fawkes mask was not welcomed by people. The group would spend time talking to the kids, to make them comfortable. Today, people are fond of their work and immediately recognize them with their masks.
Along with giving cooked meals, the squad also provides ration kits. These kits have a sufficient amount of cooking oil, lentils, Rice, Salt, Biscuits, Common spices, Sugar, and Tea. The Guy Fawks group buys everything from a wholesale shop which costs them around Rs.1,000 to Rs.1,100 for 1 kit.
The squad does not accept any donations and wants to keep this initiative the way it is functioning. The group suggests people use the money to help someone in their vicinity instead of donating it to them. The idea of wearing these masks came when Zeeshan was in Dubai and saw people indulge in relief work. He saw them do it in a way that even their left-hand doesn’t know how much the right hand gave out in charity, Thus when they all started to do relief work this time, they decided to keep their faces hidden.
