1. First shelter opens in Chennai for transgender persons

The Transgender Rights Association, along with the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the National Institute of Social Defense has opened up a shelter home in Chennai's Periyar Nagar. A total of 25 persons will be able to live in the shelter for one year. They will also be offered various training programs based on their interests.

2. Sand artist gives tribute to late Dilip Kumar through a sand sculpture

After the veteran actor Dilip Kumar passed away on July 7 at the age of 98, emotions poured in from everywhere in the country. A sand artist, Sudarsan Pattnaik gave tribute to the actor by making a sand sculpture on the Puri beach. Along with making the actor's face, he wrote, "The end of an era."

3. Southern Railway staff to represent India in the Tokyo Olympics

A clerk and ticket collector in the Madurai division of Southern Railway and a sprinter, Revathi Veeramani is all set to enter the Tokyo Olympics 2021. She has already won many national and international events and this time, she will be participating in a 4×400m mixed relay along with Sarthak Bhambri, Alex Antony, and others.

4. Boy seen telling people to wear a mask, now police mascot

The five-year-old boy, Amit, who sells balloons in Dharmshala streets, was seen in a video urging people to wear masks. The video had gone viral on the internet a few days earlier. Due to his efforts making people follow the COVID-19 norms, he has now been made the local police's mascot for the protocols related to Coronavirus.

5. Cricketer who once bowled to Saurav Ganguli now serves Dal Puri

Prakash Bhagat, the former Indian cricketer, and former Ranji player is now selling Dal Puri in Assam's Silchar to make ends meet. He has a six-member family who is solely dependent on him. While he has bowled to Saurav Ganguli in one national cricket, he also played Ranji trophy matches. Now that he is forced to sell food roadside, he expects help from Assam Cricket Association, so that he can resume playing Cricket.
