1. Sirisha Bandla becomes the third Indian woman to fly into space
Born in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and brought up in Houston, Sirisha Bandla, an Aeronautical engineer, has become the third Indian-origin woman to enter space. The 34-year-old joined the British Billionaire Richard Branson on Virgin Galactic's (name of the space plane) first crewed suborbital test flight that begun from New Mexico.
2. Sundar Patnaik creates world's biggest sand art chariot at Puri beach
Amid the Rath Yatra that begun recently, the popular Sand artist Sundar Patnaik created the world's biggest sand art chariot at the Puri beach. It is 43.2" feet long and 35 feet wide. Like last year, pilgrims are not allowed this year too in the Yatra. On the other hand, like previous years, Sundar Patnaik created the sand art of Lord Jagannath, but this time, making it the world's biggest sand art!
3. Mangaon becomes the first village in Maharashtra to start its own cable TV to broadcast tutorials
To meet the digital divide in Maharashtra, a village in Kolhapur, Mangaon, has started its own cable TV network, where online education, now, takes place smoothly. The LIVE school broadcasts tutorials for classes 1 to 10. The streaming takes place from three classrooms of one school in a village which has a total of four schools. The initiative by the gram panchayat has helped the teachers as the local body has provided handycams to them that are connected to the cable network.
4. Chandigarh vendor offers free Chole Bhature to those who get vaccine jab
A hawker from Chandigarh has come up with a much heartwarming effort to promote vaccination among people. Located at Rehri market, the vendor has put a board where it has been written that he will serve Chole Bhature for free if people come to his stall after taking the vaccine. Almost 50 people have visited his stall as of now.
