1. Puri becomes the first city to have a 'drink from the tap' facility
Odisha Puri has become the first city in India to have taps that will directly give fresh drinking water under the 'Drink From Tap-Sujal Mission'. The tap water which will not require further filtration and boiling will work 24×7 and hence, one will not have to store it.
2. Vaccination for kids likely to start from the next month
As the trials for the Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin is underway, the health ministry is hopeful for the vaccination drive for kids to begin after one month from now. The trial of the final phase for the vaccines is, however, going to be over in September.
3. Male government employees to submit 'No Dowry Declaration' after marriage
In an attempt to reduce the dowry-based transactions in marriages, the Kerala government has issued a circular according to which all male government employees will have to submit the 'No Dowry Declaration', which will be signed by their wife, father, and father-in-law. The employees will also have to mention that they have not asked for, taken, or extorted any money.
4. Kerala man invents biodiesel from chicken waste
John Abraham has invented biodiesel from the slaughtered chicken waste which is 40% cheaper than conventional diesel. It also causes 50% less pollution than fuel. The diesel gives an average mileage of 38 km per liter. John has received the patent for his invention from the National Biodiversity Authority.
