1. Next Census to be first digital census

Minister of State Home Affairs Nityanand Rai announced in the Rajya Sabha that the coming Census will be the first-ever digital Census for which a mobile app has been developed. The app will help in the collection of data, and a Census portal has been developed for the management and monitoring of various Census-related activities. As of now, the Census used to be a door-to-door activity.

2. Dholavira gets UNESCO World Heritage Site tag

Dholavira, the Harappan-era archaeological site in the Kutch district of Gujarat, has got the UNESCO World Heritage Site, a few days after the temple Rudreshwara got the tag. Dholavira is also the first site from the Indus Valley Civilisation in India, which has been included in the list.

3. Bengaluru to install 2415 CCTV cameras to monitor trash dumpers

The Bruhat Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP) has announced to fix 2415 CCTV cameras in the "garbage vulnerable points" to monitor the black spots and open places that are likely to be used for burning garbage. The implementation will cost the body around Rs 22.32 crore, and the spots will be linked to the command content center.

4. Dog receives medal by Kerala Police for a murder case

A Labrador Retriever, Jerry, a tracker dog, received a commendation medal by the Kerala Police for his works in a murder case on July 27. The dog, who has joined the Thiruvananthapuram rural police in 2016, has also won the 'Best Tracker Dog' award for another case.

5. Nagaland's chillies titled 'World hottest chillies' move to London

The famous 'Bhoot Zolokia', which has been titled as 'World hottest chillies' by The Scoville Heat Units (SHU), has been exported to London from Kohima. The shipment consisted of 250 kg of chillies sent as samples along with 500 kg of betel leaf. The move is aimed at giving a boost to the business.
