1. PV Sindhu wins Bronze at Tokyo Olympics
PV Sindhu has become the first woman to bag medals in Olympics back to back by winning the Bronze medal in the Badminton women's singles and defeating China's He Bungjiao. Before this, PV Sindhu had won Silver for India in Rio Olympics 2016.
2. Maharashtra buses to get the anti-microbial coating
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to apply anti-microbial coating on 10,000 buses from the next month, which involves spraying chemicals on seats, hand rests, windows, doors, and luggage compartments. The coating will cost Rs 9,500 per vehicle to the state body.
3. Manipur production to make a film on Mirabai Chanu
Since weightlifter and the Manipur resident Saikhom Mirabai Chanu has made the whole country proud by winning the country's first silver medal in women's 49 kg weightlifting event at the Tokyo Olympics, a Manipur-based production company has decided to make a film on her life. Seuti Films Production has signed a contract with Chanu and her family for the same and it will be subtitled in English and other Indian languages.
4. Telangana Engineer makes micro homes for underprivileged
A 23-year-old Telangana engineer, Perala Manasa Reddy, has created OPods from sewage pipes for the underprivileged. It consists of 120 sqft. including a bedroom, kitchen, hall, washroom, and shelves. The houses have electricity, water, and drainage systems and have a life span of 100 years. The OPods also have a small balcony area for two people.
5. Odisha villagers build a bridge on their own
As the monsoon led to the destruction of a bridge built over a stream in Kuturakend village of Balangir district, villagers took on themselves to build it after getting no response from the local authorities. The villagers gathered bamboo and wooden planks from their own houses and a nearby forest to construct the bridge.
6. Ten-year-old wrote the book on Astrophysics
Reyansh Das, who is just a 10-year-old hailing from Kolkata, has surprised everyone as he wrote a book on Astrophysics titled, 'The Universe: The Past, The Present And The Future. The book written by this kid focuses on the importance of Science and Astrophysics.
7. Indian women's Hockey team enters semi-final at Tokyo Olympics
Creating history at the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian women's Hockey team has defeated the Australian team in the quarter-final match for the first time to enter the semi-finals. The victory has come to the team after losing the first three matches against Netherlands, Germany and Great Britain. Right after the win, the video of the head coach breaking down is also doing rounds on social media.
