1. First floating ATM inaugurated on Dal lake

The State Bank of India has inaugurated the first floating ATM on a houseboat in Dal lake at Srinagar. Launched by Chairman Dinesh Khare, this move is said to help locals and tourists. The Dal lake also hosts vegetable shops on Shikara along with a post office.

2. Indian Army to promote five women officers to colonel rank

For the first time in history, the Indian Army has announced that a board has approved the promotion of five women officers to the time-scale rank of Colonel after the completion of the 26 years of service. Previously, the rank was given to the women in the legal, education, and medical wings of the army.

3. India's first smog tower in Delhi

The 20-meter-long smog tower inaugurated in Delhi is the first in India which has been set up to improve air quality up to the radius of 1 km. Another smog tower has also been set up at Anand Vihar, which will start its operations by the end of August. On the other hand, the current tower has costed a total of Rs 20 crore to the government.

4. Shaili Singh wins silver at U-20 World Athletics Championship

Shaili Singh, the 17-year-old long jumper won the silver medal at the U-20 World Athletics Championship by jumping 6.59m. However, she was left behind taking the gold with just 1 cm as her competitor who is Sweden reigning European junior Champion Maja Askag, jumped 6.60m in the final race.
