1. Mumbai Police initiates 'Nirbhaya squad' for the safety of women
Mumbai Police have decided to set up a Nirbhaya squad in all the police stations of the city, few days after the horrific Sakinaka rape case took place. The squad will include a lady sub-inspector, a constable, a male constable, and a driver who will be on regular patrolling duty to prevent crime against women.
2. A 19-year-old becomes India's youngest commercial pilot
Maitri Patel, who belongs from Surat, Gujarat, has become India's first youngest commercial pilot at the age of 19. She belongs to the family of a farmer and always dreamt of becoming a pilot. Maitri completed her training program in the United States and pursued the 18-month course. She is going under training again to obtain the Indian license.
3. Retired Odisha teacher makes village roads green
Rama Chandra Sahu, a retired teacher, started planting saplings on the three different roads, which connect with his village Kangaon in Bargarh district and watered them every day. As a result, the plants have taken the form of trees and provides greenery to his village and nearby villages. Even now, the teacher continues to fetch water from the nearby pond to water them every day.
4. Magician uses art to spread awareness
Vemulapati Madhava Rao, the magician from the Kavali town in Nellore district, quit his job in engineering to spread awareness about the social evils through his magic. He has worked towards creating knowledge about polio drops and blood donation along with other issues. He has been awarded 12 national awards and 2 international awards.
5. Rajasthan's family sets up a solar plant based farm!
Based in Bhaloji village of Rajasthan, the Devkaran Yadav and his son Dr. Amit Yadav have set up a solar plant on their semi-arid 3.5-acre farmland in Bhaloji village near Kotputli town. The first solar power plant got installed when the family received a huge but incorrect bill. Soon, they set up solar panels for an 11-KW plant for Rs 2.5 lakh.
