World Bamboo Day: Useful inventions from bamboo to ease your daily life!

Bamboo products are getting common these days for the masses. For a long, they were being used by people living in North India. However, with the changing times, the whole of India has started using such products. Here's are some of those recent inventions from bamboo that you need to know!

With the world moving towards sustainability, one can see natural alternatives to a lot of products that are not only good for humans but also the environment. 1. Sanitizer dispenser by a Kerala handicraft maker

Since lockdown in 2020 made the lives of artisans and handicraft artists difficult, a lot of them took it as an advantage to create relevant products. In such a time, Arimula native, M R Vijesh created an automated sanitizer dispenser out of bamboo, costing Rs 2,200. The dispenser could be charged from a mobile charger and could work for 4 hours.

2. Bamboo tiffins by a Manipur resident

V Ginkhanpau makes various bamboo products, and this time, he thought of doing something different and created a bamboo tiffin box. It has three storage levels like the usual boxes, and one can put both dry and wet food in it. The amazing part is that the tiffin boxes also come with food that one can purchase as the dry food comes at Rs 599, while the wet food is priced at Rs 799.

3. Bamboo water bottles by Assam entrepreneur

The entrepreneur from Assam, Dhritiman Borah, who is the exporter of bamboo products, thought of making bottles when he once saw a bamboo glass. After that, he created some and posted them on Facebook, which became an instant hit. The bottle is made with durable bamboo- baluka, and the caps are well air-tight and leak-proof. The bottles take around 4-5 hours for manufacturing.

4. Sanitary napkins by Vijaywada teen

The 18-year-old student, Sohan Pappu, who belongs from Vijayawada, has started an initiative named Project Suraksha under his NGO, 'Our Youth Social Community' where he, along with other volunteers, produces organic sanitary napkins with banana pulp and bamboo for women residing in rural areas. You will be overwhelmed to know that this teen distributes these pads free of cost.

5. Bamboo houses by Hyderabad couple

Prashant Lingam and Aruna Kappagantula were once looking for eco-friendly furniture for their home when they came across the village near the India-Bangladesh border, which was rich in bamboo. That's when they thought of creating something with it and finally planned a whole house with the bamboo stem and other materials. The duo is now giving employment to a lot of women in North-east India, to make bamboo houses for people, which are equipped with all kinds of facilities, including electricity.
