1. Anshu Malik becomes first Indian woman to get Silver in Wrestling World Championship
Not only did Anshu Malik become the first Indian woman to enter the finals in the Wrestling World Championship, but she has also become the first to get a Silver by defeating Helen Maroulis in the women's 57 kg final. The 19-year-old has already bagged the gold medal at the Asian Wrestle Championship at Almaty.
2. India gets new tiger reserve in Chhattishgarh
India has got another tiger reserve in Chhattisgarh as the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTC) has approved the proposal of the state government to combine the areas of Guru Ghasidas National Park and Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary for the tiger reserve. This is the fourth such reserve in the state since it already has tiger reserves namely, Achanakmar, Udanti-Sidanti, and Indravati Tiger reserves.
3. Odisha to provide free coaching for Medical and Engineering tests to SC and ST students
The Odisha government has launched a new initiative to uplift the weaker sections of the society and has decided to provide free coaching to the SC and ST students for Medical and Engineering tests under 'Chhatra Protsahan Yojana'. For this, the state will open seven 'Centres of Excellence' in SC and ST schools.
4. Harayana becomes the third state to get clean tap water
Harayana has become the third state in India to get clean tap water in the homes under the 'Jal Jeevan Mission' scheme. Before this, Goa and Telangana have already received the facilities under the same scheme, while four union territories, Andaman and the Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, and Dadar Nagar Haveli and Puducherry have received it.
5. Bihar police force to induct 92 women commandos
Aiming to add some more strength to the Bihar Police force, the state is will induct 92 women commandos, who are trained in jungle warfare, counterinsurgency, and anti-terrorism activities. All the commandos are currently under training at CRPF's Mudkhed training center in Maharashtra for eight weeks.
