1. Bihar farmers to get subsidy for crop damage due to rains
Bihar government has approved the compensation worth Rs. 550 crore for those farmers whose crops were destroyed due to flood and rainfall. The subsidy amount will be paid to the farmers after a proper assessment is done by the district authorities. The government has also allowed for the compensation of Rs. 50,000 to the nearest relative of the people who died in the pandemic.
2. A 22-year-old woman elected as Panchayat president in Tamil Nadu
A lot of young people have been seen getting into administrative roles in recent times. Sharukala, the 22-year-old from Tamil Nadu is the new addition to it. She has been elected as the Panchayat president of the Venkadampatti Panchayat, reserved for women in the Tenkasi district of the state.
3. Bihar to install smart prepaid electricity metres
After the state government agreed to two power distribution companies, it has become clear that the current electricity meters in Bihar will be converted into smart prepaid meters by 2025. The project is likely to cost Rs. 11,100 crores and will eliminate the manual reading for billing purposes, distribution, collection, and power cut over non-payment of bills.
4. Kerala girl gets World Record for singing 120 songs in 120 languages
Suchetha Sathish, who hails from Kerala, has got into the Guinness World Records for singing 120 songs in 120 languages, that too, in just seven hours and 20 minutes. In a concert, ‘Music Beyond Borders’ in Dubai, which took place in August, she sang in 29 Indian languages and 91 foreign languages. She concluded the songs by singing a Hindi song written by her mother.
5. 'Clinic on Wheels' comes up in Kerala to provide medical facilities in rural areas
A mobile clinic has been launched by Ernakulam Karayogam to serve the marginalized section of the society in Kerala. A big bus has been used for the purpose which houses all the facility like labs, diagnostics, cancer detection, glucose, medicines, etc. The purpose of the initiative is to spread awareness about the health concerns in the state.
6. Gujarat dancers performed Garba in PPE kits
A video is doing rounds on social media where some dancers can be seen performing Garba in the PPE kits. The dancers belong from Rajkot, Gujarat, and they performed Garba on October 11. Such a dance aimed to create awareness about the COVID-19 and the protocols related to it.
