1. Andhadhun
Andhadhun is among those very few movies that keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end, and even after it ends. This blockbuster film of 2018 impressed us with its direction, acting, story, and everything. The majority of the scenes of the movies were shot in Pune, including MG Road, Shisha Jazz Cafe, Magarpatta, F.C Road, Cafe Good Luck, Koregaon Park, and Peth areas.
2. Mere Brother ki Dulhan
"Matrimonial si aankhe sabko ab taake jhaanke.."! Well, we know you too are singing along with us as this song was such a big hit. This epic song in the Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer movie, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, was picturized at Pune Lohegaon Airport. However, the team did not shut the airport down for the shoot but did all of it shoot in a section that was restricted to the public.
3. Tumbbad
If you haven't watched Tumbbad yet, you are missing out on some really good stuff. This critically acclaimed horror movie was also shot very close to Pune at Purandare Wada. It even mentions Pune, but the crew had to create a proper set to showcase the British Raj era.
4. Badlapur
The crime thriller of Sriram Raghavan and one of the best movies of Varun Dhawan, Badlapur did keep us on our toes. This revenge saga also had a big chunk of the movie, which was shot in Pune. The first car chase happened in Camp, the scene where Yami Gautam reveals her pregnancy to Varun takes place at Cafe Columbia, while the couple's home was located at Prabhat road.
5. Munna Bhai MBBS
The huge campus shown in this comically acclaimed and Sanjay Dutt starrer film, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., was actually the Agricultural College of Pune. The grand classrooms and halls of this college added very well to the entire vibe of this movie, and we couldn't help but dream of studying in such a college, haina?
6. English Vinglish
English Vinglish is one of the finest movies we have in Bollywood that gives out a very thought-provoking message and a fun storyline at the same time. This iconic film of Sridevi was shot at many places in Pune, especially the home sequence was filmed at Model Colony. English Vinglish will always be close to our hearts for not just its direction and acting, but also for such a unique narrative.
7. Hulchul
2004 released Hulchul excited all of us a little extra with its epic star cast, including big names like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi, and more. This movie also had many of its scenes in Pune, which were shot at the Law College and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth College.
8. Ajab Prem ki Gajab Kahani
We all can watch Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani over and over again and why not? It was amazingly shot, had our favourite co-stars, and featured some really colourful and happy places. This movie too has some important and major moments that were shot in Pune. For those of you who don't know the iconic 11 East Street Cafe was the place where most of the sequences of the song ‘Prem Ki Naiyya’ were recorded. It was indeed a fun song and the vibe of the cafe made it even better!
9. Dangal and Bodyguard
Nestled on the hills and located at the outskirts of the city, the Symbiosis International campus was used as a set for both blockbuster movies Bodyguyard and Dangal. Bodyguard featured many scenes that were shot in classrooms, libraries and had also used many students from the college as extras. While in Dangal, it was the song Gilehriyaan, which was shot at the girl's hostel of the same campus.
