1. India wins Thomas Cup
India has won the Thomas Cup title defeating Indonesia in men's badminton on May 15. The win came after a 3 - 0 number with Indonesia, which has been the world champion for the last 14 times. Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty and Kidambi Srikanth turned out to be the powerful player in the match that led to the win.
2. Baljeet Kaur creates a record for scaling up two weeks in two weeks
Baljeet Kaur, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, created a record by scaling up two 8,000 m peaks in Nepal in just two weeks. The 27-year-old reached Mt. Annapurna and then conquered Mt. Kanchenjunga. Currently, she is preparing for her third attempt at Mt. Everest.
3. Odisha is constructing the largest hockey stadium
Odisha is working on the construction of India's largest hockey stadium at Sundargarh ahead of FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2022. The Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium is under construction since June last year. The 35-acre stadium amounts to 200 crores.

Jammu and Kashmir will be hosting a bird festival for the first time to promote eco-tourism. While the dates of the festival have not been disclosed yet, it is likely to be held in Pahalgam and Dachigam areas. Along with the bird watching sessions, several awareness camps and conservation drives will also be conducted for more than a month, all across the Union Territory.

India's first-ever Amrit Sarovar has been inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur. It is one of the 789 ponds being developed by the government of Uttar Pradesh. The water body will be surrounded by greenery as the works are still underway. It will not only help in water conservation, but also promote tourism in the state.
6. Mumbai Airport to host summer carnival
According to a new announcement by Mumbai airport, it will be hosting a 45-day summer carnival starting May 15. The major aim of this festival is to enhance the travel experiences of the passengers. The carnival will feature fun activities and offer discounts across food and beverage outlets.
