A local round-up is an accumulation of some important local news from Indian states. Read about what you may have missed out on in the last few days.
1. Special Rs. 75 coin was launched at the inauguration of the new Parliament building
PM Narendra Modi launched a special Rs. 75 coin to commemorate the new parliament building unveiled on 28th May. One side of the coin will feature the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar, with the words "Satyamev Jayate" below it. The word "Bharat" will be written in Devanagari script on the left side, and the word "India" in English on the right. The flip side will have the image of the Parliament complex with 'Sansad Sankul' written on the lower side in Devanagari script and the translation of it 'Parliament Complex' on the upper side in English. A 'Sengol' was also placed in the facility, which is a mark of the transfer of power from the British to Indians in 1947.
2. Rambagh Hotel of Jaipur was ranked amongst the top Hotels in the world by TripAdvisor
Recently, Tripadvisor, a travel guide platform, unveiled a list of the Top 10 Hotels in the world in the Travellers choice awards, where Jaipur's Rambagh Hotel was ranked number first among some of the top hotels, as it is rightly known as the 'Jewel of Jaipuir' because of its majestic beauty. Others on the list were Ozen Reserve Bolifushi – Bolifushi Island, Maldives, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong & China, and Padma Resort Ubud – Puhu, Indonesia.
3. Jogeshwari to get a special terminal for trains from North and Western India
Mumbai's, Jogeshwari to get a new terminus by June 2024 for trains commuting from the North and Western Part of India. The Western Railway has allocated Rs. 70 crores for this project. This new station will be built between Ram Mandir and Jogeshwari railway stations. WR plans to shift 12 trains from Mumbai Central and Bandra to Jogeshwari for the ease of passengers in the Western Suburbs.
4. PM Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the ‘Khelo India University Games’ in Uttar Pradesh on May 25
The Khelo India University Games, which is taking place in Uttar Pradesh, was virtually inaugurated by the PM on the 25th of May. This mega event will have 21 games in total and will witness 4000 athletes from 200 different universities across India. The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur and Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath, were present at the opening ceremony in Lucknow. This 10-day event will on go till the 3rd of June.

5. Tipu Sultan's sword, made by a Mughal swordsmith, was sold for 14 million pounds at an auction in London.
One of the greatest rulers of Mysore, Tipu Sultan's sword was sold for 14 Million Euros which is nearly 124 crores in Indian Rupees. The sword was sold at Bonhams Islamic and Indian Art sale auction house in London and became the costliest sword of all time. It is said that it was created by a Mughal swordsmith using a German blade design that was brought to India in the 16th century.
6. Mumbai and Delhi make their place in the world's best places for local food
The two metropolitians of India made their way to the best places to try local food in the world, published by Taste Atlas. The list was created by the international travel online guide by combining the restaurant ratings on Google and their own database. Delhi secured the 16th position and Mumbai bagged the 34th place in the top 100 places in the world.
7. Rural India will now have access to government schemes in local languages as Microsoft and AI4Bharat launch 'Jugalbandi Chatbot'
Jugalbandi, a multilingual AI chatbot, was launched to help rural people, especially farmers, to keep track of government schemes and policies. This chatbox was developed by AI4Bharat, an open-source language AI center based at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras - and OpenNyAI. This chatbox will function as simply as any Whatsapp chatbox by sending a Hi on a number.
