Over 40,000 shells!

India Seashell Museum boasts a large variety of seashells, with a collection of more than 40,000 seashells from across the world. Surprising, eh? There are four sections in the museum – each having a vast gallery showcasing the unique shell collection, with shells from Mexico, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. From the spiraled conch cells to intricate cowry shells, each shell you look at seems even more beautiful than the previous one.

The shells are of all kinds of shapes that are sure to be fascinating for everyone. Some resemble the form of an elephant’s ear, some are little mermaids, some octopuses, and others seem to be tiny coriander seeds. Even the rarest of shells, with right-handed patterns on them, can be found in the museum’s gallery. The museum displays seashells of different sizes, from tiny ones to some massive ones. Each shell at the display has its name, species, and type.
