Using high-grade green tea, Matcha, Tokyo Matcha Bar provides an array of matcha flavours through beverages and quick snacks!
With the growing emphasis on healthy living and the increasing popularity of Matcha as more than just a fancy green beverage, individuals seeking healthier alternatives have begun to explore the numerous antioxidant benefits of Matcha. Offering an immersive experience into the world of Matcha-infused cuisine and beverages, Tokyo Matcha Bar, the newly opened cloud kitchen in Bandra, is poised to guide you on a delightful journey through the realm of Matcha.
As we received the hamper from the outlet recently, the craftily made pieces appealed to a few of us — although, leaving the majority in our office where we got the hamper — behind for the same! To clarify, matcha refers to powdered green tea leaves that undergo a specific process, offering numerous health benefits as an excellent source of antioxidants. Tokyo Matcha Bar, with its name inspired by the distant country of Japan and its capital city, represents a modest endeavor to bring forth the matcha experience through beverages, bridging the geographical gap from our current location.
Quick green snacks
"In the hamper, we discovered the Matcha Pancakes, much to our expectations. The subtle green and brown hues hinted at the inclusion of matcha and the baking process involved. These delectable treats turned out to be irresistibly soft, and when we opted to add vegan cheese on top, they became even smoother. While you have the option to try them with other toppings such as peanut butter, organic honey, or Nutella, one constant feature is the mild sweetness of the pancakes, so delicate that the essence of sweetness is barely noticeable."

Our next indulgence was the Tokyo Matcha Cake, which proved to be a slightly sweeter option compared to the pancakes. Despite its moderate sweetness and dense texture, the cake was a sensory delight, leaving us craving for more. If you share a preference for mildly sweet and easy treats to accompany your coffee, this treat is certainly awaiting you.
Shades of drinks
Talking of coffee, here we come to the primary servings of Tokyo Matcha as we spent some cheerfulness with their alternative for the same beverages and started with Dirty Hot Matcha, a matcha-flavoured latte that does not differentiate itself much from a regular latte but with health benefits. Their matcha-infused beverage, along with their other options in lattes and teas, can undoubtedly, be the right pick for you while the sky is pouring heavy drops on us.
Not just hot, but the outlet also quenched our frost thirst with its Salted Caramel Matcha Frappuccino. Even though the ice inside the drink melted to make the drink watery, but the scant sweetness and the mild flavour of caramel were all enough to revive our satiating mood! All we have to say about this is that it can be a good time-pass drink while you sort out your other tasks.
In addition to their lattes, frappes, and teas, we made sure not to miss out on their Banana Matcha Smoothie from their hamper. This smoothie boasted a rich and creamy texture, abundant in banana essence and flavour. It does not have a differentiated taste but a regular banana smoothie, but it still did not fail to fantasize our taste buds.
After devouring the above-mentioned dishes from Tokyo Matcha Bar, we understand that the outlet has ventured the best to woo a niche consumer group in Mumbai. And that is not only noticeable from the taste of the food but also the packaging and creatives used in it, which is, much simplistic yet elegant and premium. However, to spread its foot in the market with the minimal matcha taste — the ceremonial grade of which is claimed directly to have been procured from Tokyo — might take some time.
