Chai Fusion in Borivali, Mumbai is a cafe that is run by a family and is probably the first one to bring the concept of Chai Thali.
You might have had many Thalis, such as Rajasthani Thali, Gujarati Thali, Kannadiga Oota (Karnataka Thali), Punjabi Thali, Bengali Thai, or even a Bahubali Thali, but have you ever tried a Chai Thali? Well, Chai Fusion got the nerve of almost every Indian to have Chai at least once a day, but what goes best with Chai was the problem they wanted to solve. This was when Seema Tolani, a homemaker, got the idea of introducing a chai thali.
This café was started in 2021 by Seema Tolani; a housewife and now an entrepreneur. Seema stayed in Saudi Arabia for almost 18 years before shifting back to India in 2018. In 2020, during the pandemic, she became a home chef specializing in Sindhi and continental cuisine through Chef On Wheels. Winning an online cooking contest led her to run a cloud kitchen franchise for Vishva Ahar. It was at this moment that she thought of starting ‘The Chai Fusion.' And her entire family, Satish (Seema's husband), Rishi, and Sneh, their kids support her in the business.

But what made the inception of Chai Thali was Seema’s fondness for thalis. Since she was always fond of thali, Seema also thought of having a thali in her café but wanted to try something unique. “Chai is the first thing that comes to the minds of most of the Indians, and keeping that in mind, we introduced the Chai Thali,” said Satish (Seema’s husband). The menu of the thali is designed with snacks that perfectly go with chai. It has Bun maska, Maggi, grill sandwich, bhajiya, mini aloo wada, rusk, and chai. Two people can have the thali, and it's quite fulfilling. The taste is as good as home-cooked food.
Along with the chai thali, the café offers various options, from street food to continental dishes. Bombay sandwiches, continental club sandwiches, sub sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, pasta, burgers, and Lebanese cuisine. The overall vibe of the place is quite peaceful, and you can enjoy your food inside the cafeteria as well as in the space outside.
