These Indian renewable startups are utilizing renewable sources of energy to create a variety of products, including home appliances, air conditioners, e-vehicles, water pumps, refrigerators, and much more.
According to International Energy Agency, fossil fuels continued to represent 80% of the total energy supply in 2021, while energy-related CO2 emissions grew by 0.9% in 2022. The data clearly gives a red signal and that's the reason why we should encourage these Indian renewable startups that are creating green marvels! Keep scrolling to know what they are up to.
1. ReNew Power
Founded in 2011, ReNew is a renewable energy independent power producer that has more than 120 operational utility-scale wind, solar, and hydro energy projects in 9 Indian states. The company claims to be the only Indian company with a functional capacity of 7.7 GW. It has recently partnered with Mahindra & Mahindra, a move they anticipate will help mitigate 79,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from their fossil-free operations.
2. Uravu Labs
This homegrown startup makes sustainable water from the air by converting ambient air into drinking water. It uses a thermo-sensitive hygroscopic material to capture the water vapoUr from the air and then uses abundant solar thermal energy to power the process of release and conversion to liquid water.
3. Vayve Mobility
Vayve Mobility is the name behind India's first solar electric car Eva, a 2-seater smart EV that gives 3000 km of free charging annually. Its battery comes with active liquid cooling and it also has a panoramic sunroof. Vayve claims that it can be charged in 4 hours at home with a regular house socket while with a DC fast-charging, it will reach 80% charge in just 45 minutes. The Pune-based startup aims to launch Eva officially in 2024, but until then, one can pre-book it.
4. Oorjan
Making the solar adoption process easy, Oorjan is a growing platform for rooftop solar. With cleantech and IoT technologies, this start-up provides multiple solar system options, avails low-cost EMI loans, and helps with installation, and tracking of the impact and savings from its monitoring app. Some residential societies have saved up to 58 Lakh/Year on Power Bills with these solar panels it says.

5. AgriVijay
AgriVijay is a marketplace that is empowering farmers with its products in categories like solar, biogas, thermal, wind, and electric. It claims to have installed over 200 products, including solar water pumps, solar water heaters, solar DC fans, and biogas digesters. It also has over 65 stores and with its products, it has produced 200 plus KW of clean energy.
6. Exalta India
From solar refrigerators, solar inverters, solar geysers, and hot and cool solar air conditioners, to even solar home appliances like induction and clothes and shoe dryer, Exalta India is surely on a mission for a greener India. This Agra-based startup provides a range of solar products, solar refrigerators being their USP. It is now exporting its products to countries like Oman, Nigeria, and Dubai, and has over 3,000 customers in and outside India.
7. Cygni Energy
Founded in 2015, Cygni Energy offers affordable solar DC power and customized Lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, telecom, and other applications. Cygni has powered 2,000 homes in 10 states in the country to date and also sells rooftop solar solutions, EV-2 wheelers, and E-Rickshaws.
8. Claro Energy
This one offers solar-powered water pumping solutions to solve meet irrigation and drinking water needs in rural areas. Over 2,000 pump sets to date have been installed in 14 states by this Delhi startup that has been benefitting over 10,000 farmers.
9. MACLEC
MACLEC is a Delhi-based company that is the innovator of the SHK-Turbines, a portable hydrokinetic turbine that can be installed in slow-moving and even shallow streams to generate baseload power. This turbine doesn't need any mega structure like a hydro dam or reservoir for installation and remains partially submerged.
