Blood Donation Centres in Delhi!

From organ transplants to heart surgeries, today’s advanced medical care relies on blood transfusions. When one person donates a unit of blood, it can be separated into individual components to save multiple lives. Blood donors can help meet the daily transfusion needs of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS and sickle cell anaemia patients, and many more. Here are a few blood donation centres in Delhi that offer various products such as Whole Blood, Red Blood Cell Concentrate, Random Donor Platelets ( RDP), Single Donor Platelets (SDP),  Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP), Cryoprecipitate, Cryo deficient plasma (CDP).

General Criteria for Blood Donors:

• The person should be fit and in a healthy condition.
• Should be between the ages of 18 to 65 years.
• Weight should be more than 45 kgs (in most cases).
• Should have Hameoglobin more than 12.5 gm/dl.
• The donation interval for whole blood donation should be once in three months for males and four months for females.
• The donor should not have had malaria in the last three months.
• The donor should not have had jaundice or typhoid in the last year.
• The donor should not have Uncontrolled Thyroid disorders, Diabetes, Heart disease, cardiovascular diseases or infectious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B or C or Cancer (other diseases may vary as per the donation centre).
• Should not have had a blood transfusion in the last 12 months.
• Other requirements as per the donation centre or doctor's guidelines.

• Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital

GBPH provides blood collection from voluntary and replacement donors and blood grouping and cross-matching for indoor patients. Screening of blood for TTD only of collected blood at GBPH Blood Bank. The blood bank is operational 24/7 but donation timings are 9 am to 9 pm during weekdays and 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.

There are many IRCS Blood Centres across India including one in Delhi. It is headed by Dr. Vanshree Singh and has a facility for blood donation.

• Pitampura Blood Bank 

Pitampura Blood Bank is a NABH blood centre. This is a regional Blood Transfusion Centre in Pitampura, Delhi. It is open 24/7 for receiving blood, although donation timings are to be confirmed with them.
