The assembly elections in Maharashtra are underway with rallies, campaigns and publicity. While the parties are doing their job to fetch votes, it's time for citizens to exercise their duty too. To encourage this movement, the government and the Election Commission of India have come up with the campaign 'Utsav Nivadnukicha, Abhiman Maharashtracha’ (Festival of Elections, Maharashtra's Pride). Under this scheme, many restaurants, multiplex chains and other entities are offering discounts on 20th November 2024 and other dates to promote maximum voting.
Cinema and multiplex chains like PVR Inox, Cinepolis, and Mirage are offering 20% discounts on movies and shows from November 20 to 22 if you show your inked finger. Additionally, members of the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR) have announced up to 20% off on food at participating restaurants on November 20 and 21. The discounts will not apply to online bookings or purchases, the officials clarified. You can check the list of member restaurants under AHAR here.
The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) Mumbai Chapter has also launched a special initiative, the ‘Democracy Discount,’ to encourage higher voter turnout. On November 20 and 21, voters can get a 20% discount on their total dine-in bill at participating restaurants across Mumbai. Dine-in customers who present a voter ID showing Mumbai residency and an inked finger as proof of voting will avail of the benefit. More than 50 restaurants have already confirmed their participation in this initiative. Here is a list of restaurants:
