Global mobility and urban services platform inDrive is starting its Meals on Wheels campaign in India to help underprivileged communities by giving away 15,000 food boxes. The focus of this initiative is to fight hunger in slums and neighbourhoods where many people and families face food shortages.
inDrive users can join this effort by using the inDrive app for their rides. For every second ride a user books, inDrive will donate one meal box to someone in need. The company is also sending out six special meal cabs to deliver these food boxes directly to the communities.
Avik Karmakar, Senior GTM Manager - South Asia, inDrive, is highlighting the campaign's significance, saying, “Through the Meals on Wheels initiative, we are challenging the injustice faced by underprivileged communities. This initiative reflects our commitment to building a fair and equitable society while inspiring others to create a positive impact in the lives of those in need.”
India ranks 105th out of 127 countries in the Global Hunger Index, highlighting the urgent need to address hunger. Despite having 1.4 billion people, over 190 million people in India still go to bed hungry. This makes projects like Meals on Wheels even more important.
inDrive is committed to fighting injustice and aims to create positive changes through social and environmental projects like this one. The company is working hard to reduce hunger and make a difference in society through the Meals on Wheels campaign.
