Road Ministry targets the integration of transportation with "One Nation, One Location"
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has decided to create an integrated public and terminal infrastructure. The initiative is aimed at creating a linkage between all modes of transport by centralising roadways, railways, airways, waterways and ropeways. This will improve passenger convenience and movement efficiency. Pilot hubs were proposed at Katra, Tirupati, Varanasi, and Nagpur.
Mumbai's 'Aqua Line' metro project connecting SEEPZ to BKC nears completion
The much-awaited metro line project in Mumbai is coming to an end and the third metro line will be starting soon, easing commuters travel. The Mumbai Metro Line 3 will connect SEEPZ to the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Reports said that 97 percent of the work on its first phase is completed and it will be operational in a few months.
Two back-to-back earthquakes hit Kashmir's Baramulla
The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported two back-to-back earthquakes in the Baramulla District of Kashmir. These tremors which took place early morning on Tuesday were reported to be of 4.9 and 4.8 magnitude by the agency. As of now, no casualties have been reported as suggested by the authorities.
Health Ministry approves 25 percent increase in security at all Central Government Hospitals
Amidst the protest over the RG Kar Medical Hospital doctor case, the Ministry of Health has sanctioned a 25 percent increase in security at all central hospitals. This move comes after protests by resident doctors calling for a central law following the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's hospital.

After Swiggy, food delivery partner Zomato also launched a 'group ordering' feature that allows multiple people in a group to add items to the cart together. Deepinder Goyal, the founder of the company, shared the update on LinkedIn, saying users can share a link with their friends so “everyone can add to the cart seamlessly, making ordering together faster and easier.”
Ola Electric launches the 'Roadster' series e-motorcycles
On Thursday, August 15, 2024, Ola Electric founder Bhavish Aggarwal unveiled three new models - the Roadster X, the Roadster, and the Roadster Pro, officially launching the company's 'Roadster' line of electric motorbikes. This marks the company's first-ever electric motorcycle series, based on its Gen 3 platform. The price for the series will be starting from Rs. 74,999, going up to Rs. 1,99,999.
Indian airports on alert as WHO declares Mpox as a global public health emergency
The world is seeing a recent outbreak of Mpox, a viral illness caused by the Monkeypox virus. Although India is at a potentially low risk, the Union health ministry on Monday asked all the airports and authorities at land ports on borders with Bangladesh and Pakistan to be alert about incoming passengers reporting Mpox symptoms. The centre has declared Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital, as the nodal centres in the national capital for the isolation, management and treatment of any Mpox patient.
Blinkit orders hit all-time high on Raksha Bandhan
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Zomato-owned Blinkit set multiple sales records. In a LinkedIn post, the company's CEO, Albinder Dhindsa, mentioned, "We’ll cross all-time high orders in a day on Blinkit in a couple of minutes. We also hit highest ever OPM (Orders per minute), GMV, chocolate sales and most other metrics today."
Bihar's youth creates a world record by walking the fastest distance in Qatar
A youth named Ashutosh Prakash from the Gaya district of Bihar made a world record in Qatar. He has registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records by crossing Qatar at the fastest speed on foot. Ashutosh set the record by covering a distance of 191.7 kilometres from north to south of Qatar in 30 hours 31 minutes 32 seconds.
