India to get its first semiconductor fabrication plan

The nation will get its first semiconductor fabrication plan in a first-of-its-kind partnership between the US and India. This semiconductor fabrication plan from the US will generate chips for use in next-generation telecoms and military systems. Following discussions between US President Joe Biden and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Wilmington on Saturday, the joint project between the two countries was revealed.

South Indian actor Chiranjeevi gets the Guinness World Records title 

South Indian star and former politician Chiranjeevi enters into the Guinness Book of World Records. He was given the title of "the most prolific star in the Indian film industry." "The most prolific film star in the Indian Film Industry - actor/dancer is Konidela Chiranjeevi aka Mega Star (India) achieved on 20 September 2024," said a certificate issued by the Guinness World Records, which was handed over to Chiranjeevi at the event. As per the sources, Mega Star Chiranjeevi has performed 24,000 dance moves in 537 songs in his 156 films in a span of 45 years. 

Rhea Singha crowned Miss Universe India 2024

The grand finale of Miss Universe India 2024 was held on Sunday in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and 19-year-old Rhea Singha from Gujarat was crowned Miss Universe India 2024. She will now represent India at the global Miss Universe 2024 pageant. After her big win, Rhea told ANI, "Today I won the title of Miss Universe India 2024. I am so thankful. I have done so much work to get to this level where I can consider myself worthy enough for this crown. I am so inspired by the previous winners." 

Sangram Singh becomes the first Indian man to win an MMA fight

Commonwealth Heavyweight champion Sangram Singh scripted history by becoming the first Indian man to win an MMA fight. He defeated Pakistan's Ali Raza Nasir in his debut MMA fight at the Gamma International Fighting Championship held in Georgia (USA) on 22nd September. Singh also made the record for the fastest victory (in one minute and thirty seconds) by an Indian fighter in the 93 kg weight class.

The government portal on X (formerly Twitter) MyGovIndia shared a "Digital Bharat" picture on their platform. This image shows an auto driver in Bengaluru accepting UPI payments for his rides through his smartwatch. The post along with the picture mentions "UPI Swag! Seamless payments, anytime, anywhere!'' 

Mukesh Ambani buys India’s first Boeing 737 MAX 9, worth over Rs 1,000 crore

One of India's richest people and the chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani bought India's first Boeing 737 MAX 9. As reported by Times Now, the Ambani family spent over Rs 1,000 crore on this ultra-long-range business jet. Post this, the business jet stands as the most expensive private aircraft owned by any Indian business tycoon. 

TCS partners with McDonald’s Philippines for its 760+ restaurants

The George Yang-led Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), the master franchise holder of McDonald's in the Philippines, and the Indian IT behemoth Tata Consultancy Services have inked a two-year cooperation. This is TCS's first partnership with the fast-food chain in the APAC region and aims to standardize and digitize the IT operations for 760+ McDonald’s restaurants in the Philippines.

India's men's and women's teams win historic gold at the 45th Chess Olympiad

At the Budapest Chess Olympiad on Sunday, India won the gold medal in both the men's and women's team divisions. To wrap up a victorious tournament, the Indian women's team defeated Azerbaijan by the same score in the final round, while the men's team defeated Slovenia 3.5-0.5. Earlier, only China and the Soviet Union had won the gold in both the men's and women's groups in the same edition of the Chess Olympiad.

After its landing in 2023, India's Chandrayaan 3 has made significant discoveries and there is one more to add. The data sent back by the Pragyan rover from the Moon's south polar region has resulted in the discovery of an ancient crater some 160 km wide. These findings were published in the latest issue of Science Direct by scientists from the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad.
