North India records the wettest monsoon in 11 years

North India logged its best monsoon in 11 years with rainfall of 7.1% above average. The area, which is frequently beset by significant monsoon deficits and is facing deteriorating groundwater conditions, saw 628mm of rain between June 1 and September 29, which is its highest total since 2013.

Tender for Banganga Tank desilting work floated by BMC

The BMC D-ward has floated a tender worth Rs. 1.2 crore for carrying out the desilting of the Banganga Tank in Walkeshwar, Mumbai. The heritage steps of the tank were broken during the last attempt to desilt the tank due to the use of the excavator inside the tank.

150-175 Western line trains to be hit by track work this week in Mumbai

Daily commuters on the Western Line should expect delays between Monday and Friday (September 30 to October 4) due to speed limits that will be put in plimplementedGoregaon and Kandivali. The track-related work will ultimately affect train services. The speed restriction is being enforced in connection with the ongoing re-laying of the 5th and 6th railway lines between Ram Mandir and Kandivali railway stations. 

Jaipur's Albert Hall Museum and Ramniwas Bagh to be closed for two days

From midnight on September 30 to early October 1, Jaipur's Albert Hall Museum and Ramniwas Bagh will be sealed off for a comprehensive clean-up aimed at eliminating the growing rat population that poses risks to public health. According to JDA secretary Nishant Jain, the increasing number of rats within Ramniwas Bagh, home to the Albert Hall Museum and other structures, has raised concerns about the potential spread of infections or even an epidemic.

Indian Actor Mithun Chakraborty will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. The 74-year-old actor will be felicitated with the award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony, which will be held on October 8. 

Kerala registers the highest youth unemployment rate in India

According to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2023-24, Kerala becomes the state with the highest rate of youth unemployment at 29.9%. This contrasts starkly with Haryana, which has seen a notable improvement in its unemployment figures.

Telangana weaver crafts gold saree worth Rs. 18 lakh

Vijay Kumar, a weaver from Sircilla in Telangana has crafted a gold saree worth Rs. 18 lakh. The daughter of a wealthy Hyderabad man is set to wear a saree for her wedding day. The craftsman said that this is his most expensive project to date.
