1. PM Narendra Modi Inaugurated India's 1st Underwater metro in Kolkata.
On March 6th, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first underwater metro in Kolkata. The metro tunnel is routed under the Hooghly River, connecting Kolkata city and Howrah. The Prime Minister is set to launch many upcoming major transit projects across the country to improve mobility and transportation in India.
2. The world's longest bi-lane tunnel is in Arunachal Pradesh, India.
On Saturday, March 9th, India inaugurated the world's longest bi-lane tunnel, the Sela Tunnel, with the Prime Minister presiding over the ceremony. This project, initiated in 2019, required a total investment of Rs 825 Cr. The Sela Tunnel, built at an altitude of 13,000 ft, consists of two roads spanning 8.6 km and has the capacity to accommodate 3000 cars and 2000 trucks daily. It signifies uninterrupted connectivity to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, regardless of weather conditions.
3. Bombay Brasserie opens its New branch in Singapore.
Bombay Brasseries, an Indian cuisine restaurant, has opened in Singapore to showcase authentic Indian cuisine. Located in JW Marriott, it offers a wide range of Indian food with a blend of Continental cuisine in an elegant Persian ambiance. Dr. Shilpak N. Ambule, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, announced that Indian Hotels Company Ltd would soon expand in San Francisco and Frankfurt.
4. Article 370 was declared Tax-free by the Chattisgarh Government.
The BJP government in Chhattisgarh announced that the movie 'Article 370' would be tax-free in the state. Chief Minister Vishnu DeoSai declared that the film, which focuses on the revocation of provisions of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir, will be exempt from taxation.
5. ISRO launches India's second launchpad in Kulasekarapattinam
On the southern tip of Tamil Nadu, ISRO launched its second launch pad, covering an area of 2,292 acres across three villages, aiming to contribute to India's expansive space goals. This project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister and is expected to commence operations within two years. The estimated budget is Rs 986 Cr, and the site will primarily handle the launch of smaller satellites.
6. India unveils its first AI-generated teacher in Kerala.
At a grand event at KTCT Group of Schools in Trivandrum, Kerala, India unveiled its first robot school teacher, which is AI-generated. AI has been garnering attention in recent times. Equipped with an Intel Iris processor, the first AI-generated teacher has been developed to enhance students' learning experience.
