One of the most circulated myths about HIV AIDS in India is that it is spread to others when coming in contact. However, the claim is false. The spreading of such myths is common due to ignorance and unawareness about the disease in the country that already deals with 3.14 million people living with the disease, as per National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). In such a scenario, there are a few NGOs working in the national capital that are working towards spreading knowledge about the disease.
Naz Foundation
The Naz Foundation (India) Trust, a New Delhi-based NGO has been working on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Health for more than 25 years now. It was established in 1994 to spread awareness about gender and sexual health. Over the years, the foundation has worked to combat HIV with a holistic approach for both prevention and treatment.
