Therefore, various NGOs are working towards upskilling the youth, especially those who cannot afford to obtain skills through better education and infrastructure. Akshara Centre, an NGO based in Mumbai provides education, skills training and job opportunities to women belonging to the lower sections of society. The NGO has been working to empower women to make them financially independent. The NGO organises various sessions, talks and workshops for the same. 

Purkal Youth Development Society

Based in Dehradun, Purkal Youth Development Society focuses on imparting education to children and youth of India, primarily from rural and underdeveloped areas. The NGO helps in granting skills to the youth in their career. The organisation grew from a school to an NGO working for underprivileged children where it has taught and trained youth.

One of its programmes centers on offering IT and vocational training to underprivileged youth.
