The beauty of the fake snow mountains and the lake will surely give you some fabulous pictures but it should also be noted that its marble dust is also responsible for skin, eye, and lung problems.
Kishangarh, a beautiful place just 100 km from Jaipur, is an old business site famous for its Bani Thani paintings, marble-made sculptures, and temples. However, in the last few years, it has also become one of India's largest marble markets. Nestled in the Aravalli Range, this city features a vast deposit of high-quality marble, characterized by its pristine white color and fine grains. The place where you'll get to see them majestically is Kishangarh Marble Dumping. It looks scenic with multiple blue water ponds, making it an Instagrammable place, worth checking out at least once if you are in Jaipur. But before you plan a visit, let us quickly tell you about its not-so-bright history.
The Dark History Behind The White Marbles
The history of the Dumping Snow Yard Kishangarh goes back to 2003 when Riico (Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation) and the Kishangarh Marble Association were looking for a place to dispose of leftover marble. They came up with the idea of storing it on a specific plot of land.
The amount of trash collected was so huge that it formed a mountain/hill, which became popularly known as the ‘Dump yard Kishangarh’. Over time, with this formation, the area became a famous tourist attraction in Rajasthan due to its unique appearance - being covered by white slurry made it look like snow! This area is now called "snow mines" because it resembles snowy landscapes with its white mound-like structure. Today, visitors from all over come to see this magical spot and consider it as one of the best places.
Kishangarh is just 100 km from Jaipur, so you can extend your Jaipur trip and explore this heavenly place in Rajasthan. The yard is under the District Mining Office, which is the body that ensures its safety. An uncommon place, but the marble slurry dump at Kishangarh is breathtaking and gives a snow-like replica. However, the marble dust can also cause lung and eye problems, so if you have breathing problems, be very careful.
Tickets and Timings
Now, if you've made up your mind to visit this place, here's some good news. There are no entry fees but you'll have to collect an entry token from a location 1 km from Kishangarh's main dump gate. Do carry your Aadhar card and vehicle identification number there and the guard will guide you along the way.
If you are carrying a DSLR camera you have to mention that, too. There aren't any extra charges or parking fees. The Entry Timing for Dumping Yard Kishangarh is 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The timings may vary depending on local regulations.
Tip From Our End
The best time to visit Dumping Yard Kishangarh is definitely in the winter season. The land, with its mounds and pits covered in snow, looks like nothing less than a moonland in a desert state. However, those who plan their trip during the rainy season, are in for an equally delightful surprise as all the pits get filled with water and transform into mini lakes, making it appear like an island amidst all the garbage.
